Optimism and confidence in the animal protein sector marks the opening of the 13th TecnoCarne in São Paulo

The strength of the animal protein processing industry was highlighted at the opening ceremony of the 13th edition of TecnoCarne – International Fair of Technology for the Animal Protein Industry, held on the afternoon of Tuesday, 8, at São Paulo Expo.

The event, in its three days brings together the main industries and brands of beef, pork, poultry and fish processing for the most advanced technologies and solutions for the processing industry, as well as it caters for new partnerships and opportunities for commercial interaction. “TecnoCarne concentrates 85% of the weight of the animal protein sector, between companies and decision makers, in an environment that exalts the importance of this segment to Brazil, as well as encourages Brazilian businessmen to invest and believe in the development of the meat chain in the country. We expect to receive around 15 thousand highly qualified visitors this year, who are betting on the potential of this market and believe in the resumption of the economy, “said TecnoCarne director José Danghesi at the opening of the event.

The challenging scenario that the sector has faced since the beginning of the year was highlighted by the president of ABRAVA – Brazilian Association of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Heating, Arnaldo Basile Junior, who praised the entrepreneurial attitude of Brazilian businessmen. “The chain has demonstrated daily how to overcome the crisis by dodging the challenges, further reinforcing the importance of this market for the economy,” he said.

“We are following the steady growth of state-of-the-art storage investment. For us, it is very important to be present at this event, which represents a sector that invests constantly in the implementation of technologies for the growth not only of the industry, but of Brazil as a whole “, stressed the president of ABIAF – Brazilian Association of Industry Refrigerated storage, Francisco Moura.

For the president of Informa Exhibitions in Brazil, Marco Basso, the event marks the importance of this market that, even in the face of difficulties, continues to produce good numbers and growth expectations not limited but especially at the TecnoCarne. “Despite the challenges of the industry, Brazil remains one of the largest producers of animal proteins in the world, remaining among the 10 largest global economies. These numbers reaffirm the country’s business strength. This fair reflects what Brazil is and reinforces our certainty that this period will pass, and that we will come back even stronger, “said the executive.

“Over the next three days, we will be discussing issues of relevance and witness the efforts that the industry has made for the health of the food and the quality of the products offered to the market,” said Sergio Murilo, of the São Paulo Agriculture and Food Supply Secretariat. At the end of the ceremony, the director of TecnoCarne paid tribute to the 40 years of the Center for Technology of Meat (CTC) of the Institute of Food Technology (Ital), represented by the researcher and director of the entity, Ana Lucia da Silva Corrêa Lemos. The important studies and researches developed by the CTC throughout these years were also highlighted among the authorities that participated in the opening ceremony of the fair. “We can say that four decades ago Brazil was a major importer of food. This status only changed after the serious and quality work of institutions with the CTC, which put us in a new level of the world market. Today, the country is the fifth largest producer of animal protein in the world, exporting to more than 160 countries, with technology and quality, “said Francisco Sergio Ferreira Jardim, Superintendent of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.

Lecture series
One of the highlights of the first day of TecnoCarne was the cycle of lectures, with technical and market themes addressed by researchers from institutes such as CTC-Ital and FCA / Unesp, as well as Amcham on the US market and global trends for halal meat. All lectures, which are free, had maximum capacity.

The program of this Wednesday (9/8) begins at 15h with the lecture “Technologies to ensure results in the production of meat”, which will be given by Cristiano Moresco, Foss. At 4:00 pm, the theme “Traceability in the meat industry through weighing” will be treated by Anderson Reginaldo Guimarães, from Toledo do Brasil, followed by Henrique Roos, from Sulmaq, at 5:00 p.m., who will present innovations in pork boning. At 6:00 pm, Gilberto Francisco de Souza, from Danfoss, will give the lecture “Importance and care of the hot gas defrosting”, ending at 7:00 pm with the harmonization of noble meats and extra virgin olive oils, which will be conducted by Patrícia Galasini, holder of the title “Ambassador of Olive Oil in Brazil”.
