The early bird action of gamescom 2017 (22 to 26 August, new day sequence from Tuesday to Saturday) ended on 22 February with a very good result: around 70 percent of the planned space is already booked. Even now it is already clear that games fans from around the world can once again look forward to a diversity of exhibitors at the world’s largest event for computer and video games. In addition to many of the world’s biggest developers and publishers, hardware manufacturers, eSports companies and the Indie Arena Booth with many independent developers have already booked their space.
gamescom is also continuing its successful course with a view to internationality: exhibitors from 38 countries will be represented from 22 to 26 August in Cologne. That corresponds to a 12 percent increase compared to the same point in time in the previous year. With this strong first registration phase, gamescom 2017 is once again impressively underlining its position as Europe’s leading international business and new product platform of the computer and video games industry.
In terms of the variety of the offering, the world’s largest event for computer and video games is setting new standards this year. Nowhere else will industry pros and game fans find such a large number of leading manufacturers from the computer and video games industry condensed at one location: exhibitors from all segments are already represented across platforms following the initial registration phase. Among others, the following renowned developers and publishers of the games industry confirmed their participation in the world’s largest event for computers and video games: astragon Entertainment, Bandai Namco, Bigpoint, CD Projekt, Deep Silver (Koch Media), ELECTRONIC ARTS, GREY BOX, Kalypso Media, Konami, Microsoft, Ubisoft, Square Enix, Wargaming and Warner Bros. Entertainment. Many well-known companies from the hardware and accessories segments have already booked their space. Among others,
Alternate GmbH, expert Warenvertrieb GmbH, MIFCOM GmbH, and Roccat will be using gamescom 2017 as a presentation platform. Exciting eSports tournaments are guaranteed by Turtle Entertainment and Webdia Gaming /ESWC, among others.
Mobile games can also be found at gamescom thanks to the early registration of Bigpoint and Netmarble. As new exhibitors, gamescom 2017 welcomes, among others, CCP-Games, Cinkciarz, Micro-Star and Thunderobot. The Indie Arena Booth, the pavilion of many independent developers from throughout the world, has also already secured its place at gamescom.
Games fans can thus also look forward to many independent developers and their latest developments at gamescom 2017. gamescom visitors can once again expect a comprehensive offering of fan items, because the demand for exhibition space in the fan shop arena is enormous: more than 46 companies have already secured their stand spaces, including Game Legends, Konami, Otaku, Panini Verlags GmbH and Square Enix. Internationality already at the very highest level With exhibitors from 38 countries, the Internationality following the conclusion of the early bird action has already exceeded the result of the previous year and confirms gamescom as Europe’s leading business platform of the games industry. The foreign share of exhibitors lies at 56 percent on the day of record.
A large share of this result is held by the total of 13 already registered national pavilions from China, Belgium, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Canada, Colombia, South Korea, Sweden, Peru, Singapore, Spain and Turkey. In 2016, gamescom welcomed a total of 345,000 visitors from 97 countries, 30,500 of them trade visitors. 877 exhibitors from 54 countries were represented at the world’s biggest event for interactive entertainment.
