Zumba in the water? Cross-training in the pool? Of course it’s possible – and FIBO will show how. Aqua Fitness is the most refreshing trend in group fitness. Thanks to its versatility, it’s already been a big hit in the US; now, with FIBO, aqua fitness is also hitting the big time in Europe. For the first time, a pool stage will be set up at the Leading International Trade Show for Fitness, Wellness & Health taking place in Cologne from 6 to 9 April. Participation isn’t just allowed, it’s encouraged.
So in 2017, we’ll all have to “pack our bathing suits” for FIBO! The Pool Stage in Hall 4.1 will be beckoning visitors to dive in and enjoy an invigorating swim. In live performances on Thursday and Friday, trade visitors can learn about new workouts and try out aqua fitness right there in the water. The programme is being put together by FIBO exhibitors, including aqua fitness providers BECO and Aqquatix, along with instructor trainers from the European Aquatic Association (EAA). On Saturday and Sunday, the Pool Stage will serve as the exclusive venue for the 1st FIBO EUROPEAN CONVENTION – powered by FISAF International, supported by Europe Active / EREPS. Some 3,000 trainers and instructors from across Europe will meet at the trade show and attend master classes by top instructors such as Gil Lopes, Claudio Melamed and Guillermo G. Vega. Among the highlights registered convention participants can look forward to: a top-notch programme on the Pool Stage.
Zumba star Jaromir Cremers goes diving
Das Choices offered across both event days literally range from A – Z: from aquacycling to Zumba. And the trainers are part of the European aqua fitness elite. Coming to FIBO from Russia will be synchronised swimmer Ekaterina Kappkova. The organiser of the Water World International Convention will be demonstrating the latest trends in Aqua Fitness Advance on the pool stage. Master trainer and hydro-kinesiologist Fabrizio Cantarini from Italy will turn the Aqua Cardio Fitness Circuit into an experience. Nelly Ballester , EAA France’s lead on the development of professional aqua training programmes, will introduce Aquacycling + Monitored Training. Javier Bergas, the Spanish swimming association Real Federación Española de Natación’s aqua fitness instructor, will hold a master class on Aquacross X Fit & Fun. And Dutch Zumba star Jaromir Cremers will showcase the Aqua Zumba Wet’N’Wild workout he created by fusing Latin-American dance workouts with effective aqua training.
Competence for trainers and instructors
“The fitness studio as competence centre” is a theme at the very top of the FIBO agenda in 2017. That’s why all master classes include a brief theoretical portion to supplement the practical experiences offered. To ensure that no trends are missed, breaks will be filled with short demonstrations on the Generation 3.0 Aquabike, Aqua Jump & Step workouts, Aquapole and Aqua SUP’P, a highly popular sport in France and Italy using a stand up paddle board. The Italian sports physician and swimming coach Dr. Francesco Confalonieri will conclude each of the two aqua fitness programme days with illustrative lectures on the performance and health benefits of aqua fitness.
